Gillian Wray has combined her two greatest passions, cooking and teaching, to run her highly successful cookery courses. Based in her home in the hills of Cumbria, Gillian has developed her courses using her four oven Aga, the centre piece of her kitchen in her Lakeland barn conversion.
This attractive setting enabled Gillian to develop an excellent bed and breakfast business, based in her own home. As visitors from far and wide arrived, they were struck by the quality of the food and the size of the Aga! Endless questions and much interest led to the development of Gillian’s cookery courses. Gillian trained as a teacher and worked in the classroom for many years, gaining a reputation for caring for the individual. It is this approach that she has brought to her cookery courses, where the group sizes are purposefully kept small so that each individual can have their particular interests included. The true novice to the highly experienced cook have all found Gillian’s courses to be informative, stimulating and highly enjoyable.
As the courses have increased in popularity, so Gillian’s reputation has spread. People have travelled from all over the world to experience her magic combination of delicious food and wonderful hospitality. Whether you join a group course or come as an individual student, come to cook for a few days or just a day you can be sure of the warmest of welcomes and the most inspiring of courses.

Built up over years, Gillian has carefully researched, sourced, tried and tested the very best cookware available, particularly bearing the Aga / range cooker user in mind. Course participants have delighted in the “try before you buy” approach to buying cookware, where they can come on a course and use the cookware offered for sale before deciding on their purchase. In this way, Gillian offers a unique approach to purchasing cookware and customers can feel confidant that they are buying the right product for them. A mail order service is also available and customers are welcome to phone or email for advice before purchasing, knowing that they will be able to speak to someone who has used the product that they are interested in.
